Activity 1. Pay attention to the following video about hand gestures in different cultures. Did you know any of these gestures? Do you know any other? In which culture is rude or polite?

Activity 2. Read the text and tick where it corresponds according the information given.

Activity 3. Read the text again. Then define the following terms in your own words and write a synonym for each one: abroad, exchange, host, cheek, shake hands, click fingers, burp andjoke. You can use this dictionary if necessary.

Activity 4. Imagine that an English friend is coming to Spain.  Discuss with your  partner the 10 tips needed to help him/her to be polite. You can use the vocabulary that is in the text.

Activity 5. Write a text of 100 words about a situation where you have screwed up due to cultural rules you have misunderstood or didn’t know.
